After Dead Island 2 was shown at Gamescom 2022, the release date was announced as February 3, 2023, though was later moved to April 28, and then shifted again to be a week earlier. By 2019, a new announcement came, stating Sumo Digital was out as well and Dambuster Studios was the new developer, which is an internal studio of Deep Silver. ![]() In March 2016, Sumo Digital took over, and Deep Silver kept reiterating to the fans and the media that the game is still in development. However, that quickly fell apart as Deep Silver announced it'll no longer be working with Yager Development due to creative differences.
